OEM GM Brake Rotors Online

Brake rotors are metallic discs located behind your car's wheels. They are considered the foundation of your car's brake system.

Brake rotors and What They're Designed to Do

Rotor discs are designed to give grip to your brake pads. When you need to stop, you press the brake pedal. The hydraulic brake fluid is pressurized and clamp the brake pads into the surface of the rotor discs. The friction against the metallic rotors connected to the wheels is what slows your car's momentum.

Rotors are capable of taking on this friction. Some even have slots or holes drilled in the surface to help reduce heat with more air flow. Usually, these rotors are for higher performance car models. But they will wear down and receive surface scores over the years. Usually around 70,000 to 100,000 miles is when you should have your rotors inspected for replacements.

What to Do When Brake Rotors Need Replacing

Your brake rotors may become warped, scraped, cracked, or lose their vitality to slow and stop your vehicle. If you notice grinding noises when stopping or feel a pulling sensation to one side or the other of your car, seek new rotors ASAP. Doing so early on can also prevent damages to your brake calipers.
