The Cadillac Eldorado is an iconic and storied model that has been a symbol of American luxury, innovation, and style for nearly 50 years. The Eldorado, which debuted as a limited-edition convertible in 1953 to celebrate Cadillac's 100th anniversary, set the standard for luxury grand touring cars in the US, featuring groundbreaking styling and features across several models. Key features of the first generation included a panoramic windshield, cut-down doors, and a potent 331-cubic inch V8 engine. In 1957, Cadillac introduced the Eldorado Brougham, a hand-built, limited-production version with air suspension, memory seats, a brushed stainless steel roof, and extensive use of chrome. A major change was brought about by the 1967 Eldorado, which had a front-wheel drive system and a 429 cubic inch V8 engine.
In the 1970s, the Eldorado brought even more luxury and grandiosity, featuring an 8.2L V8 engine and continued use of front-wheel drive. The Eldorado was significantly modernized and downsized in the 1980s, which made it lighter and smaller in construction. The 1990s saw the Eldorado return to a larger design, featuring a longer body, more powerful engines, and technology such as the NorthStar 8 engine. In 2002, the vehicle was discontinued and replaced by the Cadillac CTS coupe. To mark the occasion, Cadillac produced a limited-edition Eldorado Collector's Edition.
